Ruby, don't take yer love to town
First of all; apologies for the title - I was flailing.
Anyway....On Saturday me and Jackie went over to Fife to help her mum and dad celebrate their fortieth, ruby, wedding aniversary. Scotland happened to be playing the Faroe Isles in a Euro 2008 qualifier so we headed over in time to see the match and what a match it was. Scotland charged their way to a 5-0 half time lead, winning the match 6-0 - yoiks!
After the match and a *few* beers we went to Andrew's for champagne, cutting of th...

No Surrender! (to the yellow team)
As part of David's Christmas, I believe it was, he was given some paintballing vouchers. So today we headed up to "Delta Force", near Houston, to take advantage of the generous gift. There were eight of us altogether: me, David, Karen, Bob, Kirsty, Steve (Bob's brother), Steve (Bob's brother's friend) and Dimitri.
The day dawned to gray skies and drizzle, which of course meant that Dimitri's face was tripping him fromn the kick-off, and by the time we got there it was raining quite steadily ...

"I think we need a bigger boat"
Andrew recently got a boat so me, him, Callum and Dave took to the waves to partake of the sea air and indulge in a spot of fishing (I didn't participate in the latter). You can see the pics here. As the boat is moored in Largo that means that it plies its trade in the Firth of Forth. Why do I mention this? Well, although it was one of the hottest days of the year by the time we were out to sea the temperature had dropped amazingly. I d...

Love and Poker and Alchohol
It was Jim and Marianne's wedding on Saturday (pictures here) so me and Jackie (and the rest of Jackie's immediate family) headed down to Nottingham for the big day. It was an early start, about 6am, so you'll be unsurprised to hear that I wasn't on my best form given the ungodly hour - suffice to say a few beers in the airport and on the plane helped to sort that out. I actually got a bit of a result on the plane as the stewardess who ...

You always bring the weather with you
I'm not sure if you knew dear readers but me and Jackie were over in France , visiting my dad and Claire. It would be too much to call it a holiday, more of a long weekend (we were only away from Thursday to Sunday). In general it was good, following the pattern that our previous trip to see them took: breakfast, day trip including lunch somewhere, late afternoon cat nap, pub for a few drinks, out for meal, back to bar and finally nightcap back at their new house.
I took my camera and gear ov...

Purple Headed Mountain
Well my grandad's funeral has been and gone so I guess in some ways it's the end of an era, certainly in terms of the Archer family it is anyway. The day kicked off at half ten in the morning with us, me and Jackie, dutifully trawling over to my mothers house to stand awkwardly in the lounge with the rest of the teary eyed relatives. The only real point of note was that my cousin Ricky had come up from Southampton with his wife Vicki (Ed: Ricky and Vicki? Shurely shome mishtake); having...

See Emily play
Yes you read it right - another spawn of Tierney walks the earth, or at least lies in a prone position and drools. David and Karen have had the child they were expecting, yesterday, and she weighed in at a healthy 9lbs+ Ouch! Me and Jackie went up to the hospital last night as soon as I got back from work to visit them. Karen's mum and sister were already there giving it the "goo goos", "coochie coos" etc. Surprisingly she has a shock of black hair and sideburns making her look more like Gaz fro...

Block Rockin' Beats
Another *reasonably* busy weekend - well not busy per se but at least I went out. Me and David met up on Saturday night for a few beers which turned into an all night shot, the story went thus: Rufus T's -> O'Henrys -> Cathouse -> The Arches. Surprisingly enough Judge Jules was playing in the Arches, same as the last time I was there and, same as the last time I was there, we ended up in the sound booth - best seat in the house. Jackie wasn't very amused as I didn't get in until the back of four...

Happy Birthday to you
It was my mums birthday on Friday so we all (Me, Jackie, David, Karen, Thomas, Grandma and Grandma A, my Mum and my Uncle - who I haven't seen in years) all went to an Italian in the village for dinner. The cheeky mare, my mother, arranged it herself and phoned us up to say that if we couldn't make it she would probably have to cancel! So we dutifully turned up after collecting David, Karen and Thomas on the way home from work. The place itself was nice enough; large spacious tables, nice decora...

He's behind you
Myself, Jackie, David, Karen and Thomas went to the pantomime to see "Jack and the Beanstalk";luckily enough Jackie's friend Catherine works at the theatre and she had managed to wangle us a bunch of tickets in row B. Before the show me and Jackie went along to Rufus T's for a few beers and then Saninio's for dinner. Talking of Saninio's: the last few times I'd been I didn't really enjoy it that much, I didn't think the food was up to much and I didn't think the seats I'd been in were very good....

Happy New Year
I know I'm taking a bit of a liberty with the *actual* date of this posting but in a year or two who's gonna notice or care; infact who cares at the moment - nobody really. It's kinda sad cos this site getting a lot of hits, in relative terms, well a few hundred unique a day until my server went belly up and now it's back down to about two! Ach well - I'm sure my loyal fans will come flooding back - cof cof.
Aye so anyway; New Year was pretty good - we were over at Jackies parents/brothers ho...

High Voltage Rock and Roll
Me, Jackie, James, David and Karen went to see ABCD (an ACDC cover band) at the Cathouse last night. I'd seen them before and they were pretty good but this time they rocked! Dunno if it was to do with the the ten pints of lager or the pills but they certainly kicked ass. TBH I think it was just a good gig as David, whose seen them loads of times before, and James, whose never seen them both thought it was rockin' too. It started off reasonably sedately but by the time the first chords of "Highw...

La Belle France
Well I'm back from holiday in France and most enjoyable it was too. Surpringly enough there were no arguments, altercations or, in the parlance of the natives, 'tete-a-tetes'. First day when we arrived was nice and warm, second it was pishing down, third was roasting and fourth was pish again. The area where my dad stays is very rural and pretty, there are towns nearby but in general it has that local yokal feel to it. On the Saturday, the roasting day, we went to an open-air market in Bergerac ...

Saturday Night Fever
I was out on Saturday night for the first time in ages: it was David's belated Birthday "night out". We were in Rufus T's for a few, then down to the bar bit in the Arches for one - where David gave me the guided tour; it was pretty cool behind the scenes. Anyway it was up to the Cathouse, where of course he wangled us in for free, for a few more hours and a few more beers. We then went back down the Arches and it turns out Judge Jules was playing - we should've stayed there all night. Anyway, w...

Parteeee
The party for Jackie's sister-in-laws 40th birthday was cool. They had somehow managed to rig up a couple of marquees, along with fairy lights, garden braziers, piles and piles of food and free beers - nice one. All the usual garden games were present along with "garden darts". They had a competition for the latter involving the 30+ people who were there. I made it to the final coming second place behind, of all people, Jackie's dad - I still maintain I was robbed by a last minute rule change. W...

Happy Birthday to you
It was Jackie's dad's birthday on Saturday so we went over to Fife for a celebratory meal and party. The meal was in the "Old Manor" where our wedding reception is gonna be held and very nice it was too - I don't suppose the free bar hurt much though. Ended up back at her parents house singing the "Parkhead version" of Wild Rover at 2 in the morning - *cof cof*
Got an exciting day ahead of me in work: Tracker v4.9.2 - the BOSS Oracle port - yee haw.

Let's get ready to Rumble
On the bus (X4) into work this morning:
1. I met Kerry and we were chatting away, as you do. Some wee dude on the opposite side of the gangway started smoking a fag, well a rollie actually. Quick as a ferret up a drainpipe Kerry *snaps* "Do you mind opening a window if you're going to smoke?", which fair do's to him, the wee guy does but some fat chick, who'd been smoking before Kerry got on the bus, pipes up something about "F**kin freezin' with the windae open, should be able to have a fag ...

Good times, bad times....
So did I mention that Dimitiri's dad died? Well he did.
Did I mention that Jackie's gran died? Well she did.
Did I mention that Jackie's aunt has terminal cancer? Well she has.
Apart from that everything else is rosy. Actually the garden is looking quite good but with all the rain the lawn is growing like mad and I don't get a chance to mow it. See what I mean?
Friday night me and Jackie are heading over to Fife to stay with her mother, my mother in law, for the weekend. The hi...

Baby Thomas.
So as I was saying below Karen and David have just had a baby - a wee dude called Thomas. I assume this is because both my father and grandfather were called Thomas. Anyway he's very cute with a shock of blond hair ,which I think I've mentioned any way :-)
The other main stuff, well not main at all, is that I've added headings to each of these diary entries and also a rudimentary hit counter to the top of the page. Cool or what?

Title Missing
It's actually been quite a while since I've added a diary entry here - the main reason is because my computer has been acting more than just a bit squirrely, all sorts of odd things have been happening since I updated my sound card drivers. Anyway onwards and upwards.
Something which I haven't mentioned before and I'm surprised that I haven't is that my brother David and his girlfriend, now fiancee, Karen, are going to have a baby. It's actually due in about 10days. Which of course means ...

Hand on the glock
My nephew Thomas has just left. He was going mad for a shot on the computer so I thought "why not?" and fired up Counter-Strike. I think at first he was a bit frightened but then he sort of got this mad concentrating look and started TK'ing dudes with his Glock and knife. He f**kin loved it when the T's successfully blew up the targets. Maybe we got the makings of a clan - hehe

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, jingle all the way........
.....oh what fun it is to f**k the Huns on New Years day. Ha ha. We didn't just beat them, we pumped them 3-0, going on 4 or 5. We never at any point looked in any danger, infact Dundee a couple of weeks ago were much harder. The game just seemed to fly by, don't remember half-time etc. The first point I looked at my watch was with one minute to go. I'm pretty sure that this game won the league, as I think most people did judging by the celes - the hun were certainly very quiet, not that I'm com...

Happy New Year - the revenge
Well it's New Years day and we're back from Kerry and Dimitri's which was _okay_. Luckily we still have the joy which is a meal at my mothers house to look forward to - cowabunga!!!
On a lighter note one of the tyres on Jackie's motor was slashed so I now get to hear her banging on about ad infinitum when all I wanna do is get ripped and play Counter-Strike ;-)

Happy New Year!
Well Hogmanay is now upon as and as midnight draws ever closer I look forward with trepidation to the evenings entertainment which will, in somewhat contradictory fashion, be a night of fun at Kerry's - yee haw. She was bloody cheeky enough to ask us to bring not just drink (as if we wouldn't have) but drink AND food. Cripes - move over Ebeneezer. David, Karen and Knoxy are going so that should liven it up a bit.
Let you know how it goes.
