No more, the green, green grass
After many years of thinking about it and wishing about it I got rid of my lawn, replacing it with gravel. Before I start to effuse about how much better it is I'd like to say that for 10 years I tried to improve the lawn and get it to that bowling green consistency that I craved - all to no avail. Every spring and autumn I spiked it, added sand, feed, mosskiller, the works but it still had damp patches that were mostly moss. Added to the fact that in Autumn/Winter the entire lawn area became un...

Gardener's World
Spent most of today digging and rooting around in the garden. I got a lot of stuff done that had been in the queue for ages so I guess it was a worth while exercise. I didn't realise how "thuggish" some of them (the plants) were - still the spade got them under control pretty quickly.
Wnet to Helensborough yesterday with Jackie, the weather was brilliant so we sat on the front and ate our lunch - a bag of chips each! We came back via Loch Long and Tarbet....which was nice.
