Is there a Celtic Rangers game coming up?

First of all the reason I used the rather clunky "Celtic Rangers" rather than "Old Firm" (OF) in the title is because I think the term OF is one which suits Rangers better. It helps them to be strongly associated with us but I don't see any real benefit for Celtic being tied in with their mankyness - just think Manchester, Barcelona, the Famine Song etc Anyway, right on cue in the taxi this morning was Hugh Keevins "exclusively revealing" trouble in the Celtic camp on the eve of the big match...

We've won the league again, fly the flag!

Yes you read it right, we, Celtic, won the League again. Not of course that it'll come as any surprise to students of the SPL as we've been running away with it since November of last year. As the papers would say, the title race had turned into a procession. Not surprisingly Celtic had went of the boil infact I think it'd be fair to say that we've not played well since the double header with AC Milan - being up seventeen points ahead in the league can do that to you. Let's face it, after that e...

Celtic 3 - Rangers 0

It was with little trepidation that I left the house on Saturday morning to head into Glasgow to meet David for the Old Firm game; after all we had played Rangers off the park just ten days before so their confidence and skill could in no way have improved. I arrived in town at about eleven and headed down to the Arches to meet him, after a quick "pick-me-up" we set off east. First stop was the Drovers, up the Gallowgate, where we had a couple of beers. On the walk up to the ground we got a wee ...

And the cheers go up, cos we know the Scottish Cup....

Jeez - in all the excitement I totally forgot to mention that Celtic won the Scottish Cup! Now I know that's small potatoes when compared with the disappoint of losing the league on the last day (again..) but it's better than nothing - just. We were in almost total control of the match but with only a few seconds to go, it was 1-0 at this point, one of United's players unleashed a 25 yard thunderbolt which cracked off of the crossbar - shades of the last league game against Motherwell. All's wel...

We shall not be moved (er....not quite)

Celtic lost the the league in the last two minutes of the last game of the season: we were playing Motherwell away and had to beat them - for 88 minutes we were, 1-0, then in the dying moments of the game they managed to score twice thereby handing the league to Rangers. Being honest the entire season has been like that: we have never really looked like holding onto a lead (think of all the times we have been beaten at home) and dare I say it but since Henke left we have looked a tad predictable...

Celtic 2 - Rangers 1 Scottish Cup 3rd Round

Well were it not for the bold Celtic beating the Huns 2-1 in the Scottish Cup today it would've been a pretty quiet and uneventful weekend. I spent most of Saturday coding away on a *homer* I've been working on, only pausing to take breath at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Admittedly I did call a halt to proceedings at 9pm to watch the first in the lastest series of "Ultimate Force" - the SAS action thriller featuring ex-EastEnders hardman Ross Kemp - and very good it was too, complete with "bulle...

Another day another dollar

I can now sympathise with my sister Kerry. She had a sore back for years and suffered, mostly, in silence. I have had a sore back for a grand total of four days now and I have not went easy with my cries of pain. I must have done something to it on Saturday night/Sunday morning. The curious thing is that when I woke up, initially, on Sunday morning it felt fine. Maybe I was still pissed from the Cup Final! It was King Henrik's last game for us, the Hoops, last night: a cheesy friendly against...

Dunfermline 1 - Celtic 3 Scottish Cup Final

As you may have guessed from the title of this entry Celtic beat the Pars 3-1 in the Scottish Cup Final, making us of course a double winning side! Me, David and Karen went to O'Briens to watch it but Jamie, Jamie Jnr, Kat (Jamie Jnr's bird), "Rascal", Cammy and Kat's mate all ended up turning up too, so it was a good day. The first half was pretty dodgy with Dunfermline looking "up for the Cup", if you pardon the pun but come the second half and a couple of quickfire goals from King Henrik saw ...

Good weekend

Had a pretty good weekend. It started on Friday afternoon with "lunch with Ron"; Ron being our MD. He's been taking random staff out to lunch with a view to eventually having lunch with everyone - some sort of bonding exercise I guess. We went to Mr Singh's, the Indian up Sauchiehall St, just past Charing Cross. I'd managed to wangle the rest of the afternoon off so I was able to give due respect to the free bar which was on offer! Hehe. On Saturday Stavros came round and we finished plumbing...

Tottie Bowl

I have to say that the Rangers "fans" outdid themselves during Saturday's game. The racist chants and chucking of potatoes was a nice touch.

Celtic 1 - Rangers 0 (90min Sutton)

Bingo bango. We beat Rangers 1-0 in the Old Firm game (which means we've beat them every game this season). Chris Sutton bagged the winner in injury time with a sweet wee chip over Klos's shoulder. Should be even better next season when Rivaldo arrives ;-) I actually made it to the wedding reception, in f**kin Houston, albeit an hour or so late. Didn't get home til the back of two in the morning which is probably the reason I still feel like I've got a hangover. More later...

Back in business again

Back in work, it's Monday, after a weekend of recovering from the trip to London. I say recovery but that basically means sitting on my a**e doing hee-haw. Celtic won the league (third time in four years) but it was a major anti-climax, mostly I think due to the fact that it was wrapped up at about New Year. Certainly after the New Year(ish) Old Firm game I was convinced that the league was finished i.e. it was a case of when and not if. We're playing Aberdeen on Wednesday night but I don't k...

Later that same week

Okay, so I took the week off of work; kinda feeling f**ked, kinda feeling sorry for myself, kinda no able to concentrate - what was it Andy "the flying pig" Goram said? Not mentally attuned? Well all of the above. Celtic drew 1-1 with Villarreal in the UEFA Cup Quarter Final 1st Leg tie. Real were the better team in the first half but we fought out way back in the second half. I don't think they looked *that* good - certainly we've beateb harder teams away from home or at least got the result...

Street Fighting Man

Got a doing on the bus on the way home from the football on Saturday night. A couple of young team guys must've took exception (I guess) to me tellin their birdz to shut it - they were rantin' about asylum seekers, fenians, p**kies etc etc. So I got walloped a few times about the head and am now sporting a delightful black eye which is offset by the general "lumpiness" of my face now :-( They must've whacked me in the side, though I don't remember it, 'cos it feels like I've got a couple of brui...

Celtic 1 Barcelona 0

Jings, crivens and help ma boab - we beat Barcelona - wonder will never cease. Being honest though it was a pretty even game; we certainly weren't played off the park or anything like it. Tommohawk scored with a peach from inside the box to grab us the goal. Dare we think about the next round now? Hmmmm, not yet methinks.

Barcelona - such a beautiful.....horizon?!?

Celtic play Barecelona in the 4th round of the UEFA Cup tonight - first leg - so me and David are going to it - it's in Glasgow. I wish it was next week 'cos I've got a terrible cold which has really knocked the stuffing out of me; I feel rotten. Added to that the fact that I will *probably* be finishing my training course at about 4pm today, it all mixes into a very messy brew. I don't want to get pissed tonight and be sitting in the course on Friday with a "king" hangover. I've conned Jackie i...

Roll'n'Sausage

I was on the bus last night coming home from work, as you do, sitting up the back trying to avoid eye contact with my fellow travellers. On steps "el jakio". So with apr 100 empty seats to choose from he decides to plank his ass next to me: "Wanna roll'n'sausage?" "Er....no yer alright" "It's got fried onion in it" ........... Well you've sold me then stranger, give me your second hand roll! On a altogether different note Celtic are playing FK Teplice in the UEFA Cup 3rd Rnd. You'd t...

We're shite and we know we are

Last night Scotland got beat 4-0 by Wales - by f**kin Wales. It has to be one of the worst Scotland performances I have ever seen. Paul Ritchie - GTF mate - you ain't Scotland class *cof cof*. Even the token Tims - Jackie, Rab Douglas and Paedo were rubbish.

Marathon Man meets drunk man.

Went to the dentist recently with a lose filling. Came out with a sore tooth, allegedly fixed, and another loose filling. So basically I think the guy is trying to put his kids through college based up my dental health.
The other big excitement in my life at the moment is trying to get Half-Life to run on my PC - sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. I can see why consoles are so popular. I've *almost* got to the stage where I'll have to reformat my hard-drive - and yes I've tried updati...

I am a pirate king!

I seem to be stuck in the middle of a mad Gilbert and Sullivan patch - not a bad thing but curious to say the least. Still it's better than sLiPkNOt I daresay.
Celtic play Rangers in the Cup Final on Saturday; I'm still clinging to the hope that I'll be able to get tickets through my work - fat chance - mind you that's better than no chance at all I suppose.

Lost Weekend

I didn't really do anything at the weekend - caught up with a lot of things wot I had to do - housework, sorting out houseplants etc etc. Saturday night tho' I was playing Counter-Strike with David until about half two in the morning. Needless to say that by the end of it we weren't exactly top of the table material. Though I was still better than him ;-) Sunday consisted of more housework and watching the Celtic beating Hearts 1-0 in a tough fought game at Tynecastle.

Up for the cup AKA drunkest man in the world

I was at the football on Saturday watching us play the mighty Ross County in the Scottish Cup. We beat them eventually not that I would have noticed as I was so drunk. To be honest I don't remember big chunks of the day. As I've said before on several occasions - "Never again" - aye right. I'll be surprised if we get back into McHuills again as we were pretty high on the old liberty taking front. On a soberer note, I bought "Battlefield 1942" for the PC. It's no bad, I had the demo which was ...

Revenge of the geeks

I tried to change to tyre on Jackies motor but couldn't "pull it off". It looked to me as if the hub of the alloy had corroded/fused onto the actual hub of the axle - or maybe I'm such a spassy geek that I can't change a tyre on a car - I prefer the former option. I mean it was up on the jack and all the nuts were, easily, removed - surely the tyre should come off?? Anyway Old Firm the morrow. Luckily Craig Moore is back just in time to crock Larsson as he always seems to try to in these matc...

C'mn the hoops!!

Away to watch Celtic against the Hibee's - hopefully this time we'll actually manage to beat them after our ignominious defeat in the CIS Cup. On a lighter note this blog is now preserving line breaks, or rather it is regexing them back after pulling them from the DB (once a Perl hacker, always a Perl hacker eh?)
