Leuchars Airshow 2008

Jackie and I went up to RAF Leuchars (near St Andrews) for the yearly airshow. When we arrived a Eurofighter Typhoon roared overhead, with its afterburners on and I thought to myself "this is gonna be great". Unfortunately the weather was so bad (raining) and got worse, that most of the planned displays were cancelled. Aircraft were reduced to doing fast runs up and down the runway so that people could at least see them moving - meh. It was a shame because I had been looking forward to it fo...

Happy Families

I guess I should've written this entry a long time ago, six weeks to be precise, but if you read on I'm sure you'll sympathise with the reason(s) for my tardiness. Six weeks ago to the day, at 2.20pm on 27/03/2007, my daughter Rebecca "Becky" Tierney was born weighting 8lbs 2oz! Jackie went into labour early in the morning and by seven am it was time to get into the hospital. We were booked into the midwife unit where the staff prefer the fathers to have a more hands on approach i.e. helping ...

Road Trip

As it was our first anniversary me and Jackie decided to splash out and go away on holiday. Of course when I say splash out I mean "spend as little as possible" - the current fiscal situation being such as it is! We therefore decided to embark on a grand tour of the West Coast. I've never been up that neck of the woods and it has been somewhere that I have continually said to myself that I need to go, so even though it wasn't as exotic as it could've been I was still looking forward to it. We we...

It's a wonderful life

It was a busy weekend. On Saturday me and Jackie went through to Stirling to meet my dad and Claire and her mum and dad for lunch i.e. it was the "big meeting". It all went well with everybody, dad and Claire in particular, on their best behaviour. Jackie's dad brought over an old telly that used to belong to her Granny as my "bad boy" has died a death. It's only a wee 23" shot but it's better than nothing. Anyway by the time we got back home and I'd had a snooze that was the day basically over....

Dancing fool

I was actually out last night! Can you believe that, me out on a Friday night? Wonders will never cease. Jackie and Catherine had been to see "velvet Revolver" (yet another dodgy rock band) and I had agreed to meet them in the Cathouse. TBH the only reason I went out was because Jim from my work had said he was going to go to the dancing after the gig (he was there aswell) but of course he didn't turn up :-( As it turned out it was a pretty good night AND I didn't spend *too* much money so I mus...

Happy Christmas

Woo hoo! It's Christmas. I'm off work for over a week - yee haw. As you may have have guessed I am currently listening to Johnny Cash, hence all the "Woo hoos" and "Yee Haws" ;-) Anyway I'm waiting on Jackie turning up with David, Karen and Thomas - they should be here any minute, they'd better be 'cos my mum has just phoned up looking for us. So what did I get? Well a Sony tuner for my stereo - cool, a *battery* powered CD player for in the shower - cool, books and CD's etc. The day is young so...

The Week that Was....

I *had been hoping to have my java driven image gallery creator thingy up and running but for a myriad of technical reasons and far too many bongs this hasn't quite happened, though it is on my to-do list. Aye, so I'd been hoping it would be sorted in order that I could get the pics from my trip to Nottingham and Blackpool up on the site to coincide with this blog entry but it hasn't happened. Sorry. :-( Blackpool was cool, even though we we're only there for 24 hours. We went on a couple of ...

My apologies

I know, I know, it's been a while, well over a week to be exact, since I last posted. The reasons? None really; just much not happening combined with feelin' a bit lazy. So... Transit of Venus: I had been looking forward to this for ages and whadda ya know but the Scottish weather responded in stereotypical fashion by being cloudy and overcast. It was a "real pea souper guvnor". So all I saw of it was the stuff on the BBC News website and what I saw later on on the tele. *groan* New Video ...

Bonzo, gone but not forgotten

My pet tarantula, Bonzo, is dead. I'd had him for almost twenty years and he himself must've been over twenty years old, which is very good for the species; Mexican Red Knee (Brachypelma smithii). I'm more melancholic than upset as he'd been an ever present feature for the whole of my teen-adult life. I buried him under the Maple in the garden in order he may rest in peace. Cheerio mate.

Title Missing

Do ya know what? I'm fed up, fed up with everything,my job, the weather, food, TV, everything. It must be SAD - I wish! I could get f**kin ages off work and sit in the house all day puffin away and watching daytime tele - how cool. I could certainly do that for oh let me see, a year or two. I don't see the problem in having ambitions. Talkin of which I've got a load of cool things which I'm gonna get up and running on the site just as soon as I can see straight - webcams, music etc. We have the ...

Santa has gone for another year

Got in from work last night and got stuck into packing away all the Christmas decorations etc; phase one of which was removing the *real* tree. Luckily enough it fell on top of me when I was dragging it into the hall and I spent the rest of the night hoovering pine needles from the floor and removing needles which had embedded my good self. Still at least that's it all sorted out for another year. Apart from the excitement which was the above I'm afraid to say that not a lot else happened - d...
