HTC G1 Android
For the last few years I've had the inkling that my current mobile phone (whatever make it happened to be at the time) wasn't cutting the mustard. My brother-in-law, Andrew, always seemed to have one that was a generation beyond mine and I often found myself casting an envious eye over people sporting a Blackberry/PDA type device.
At about the same time that the above thoughts were crystallising I had set up my Gmail account to actually be useful i.e. I configured it to collect all my emails ...

I've never done this before
But I felt the urge the send the following letter to the Metro newspaper:
"I would like to thank the selfish morons on the 7.40am train from Croy to Glasgow Queen St who regularly fail to offer my heavily pregnant wife a seat; leaving her to stand for the journey. No doubt you are the same imbeciles who park their gas guzzling four-by-fours diagonally across multiple spaces and use those ridiculous business person miniature luggage trolleys (because a plain old bag isn't good enough for you a...

E Talking
*cof cof*
Names that sound familiar
Secret wounds from failure
Try and look into their eyes
A part of the weekend never dies
There's no tension in your dance
As you try and hold my hand
[Chorus:]
It's not you it's the 'E' talking
Closing in on the translation
It's not you it's the 'E' talking
I'm not sure which part I'm playing
Look and I come in between
Faces you have never seen
Silence re-alarms go wild
Rock stop paint me melt to lie
As you weep things work the same
But ...

My grandad died last night
"Ambulances" - Philip Larkin
Closed like confessionals, they thread
Loud noons of cities, giving back
None of the glances they absorb.
Light glossy grey, arms on a plaque,
They come to rest at any kerb:
All streets in time are visited.
Then children strewn on steps or road,
Or women coming from the shops
Past smells of different dinners, see
A wild white face that overtops
Red stretcher-blankets momently
As it is carried in and stowed,
And sense the solving emptiness
That lie...

Henrik's Tongue
Saw one of the funniest things ever on Saturday morning - well it amused me anyway. There was a bin lorry working it's way up and down the street, emptying the bins, as they tend to do. However on the the front of it was one of those Henrik Larsson masks - the cheesy plastic ones with the tongue sticking out - most amusing.

Saturday night fever
What a life I lead - a never ending trail of drudgery and depression. Now I'm even getting breached on my own blog on my own server. C'est la vie mon ami, bien sur. I wonder why I continue to make an effort

Use the Force!
Went to see Star-Wars, Attack of the Clones, last night. Very impressive, particularly some of the special FX - I'm in the wrong job.
Jackie seemed more than happy with the presents I got her for her birthday, so a few more brownie points to me I think. She hasn't put the bloody mobile phone down since she took it out of the box.
As I previously mentioned I've got a week off coming up next Monday during which I plan to redecorate a bedroom in the house and miraculously turn it into a d...

Mr Underhill
Went to see "Lord of the Rings" last night, not bad at all. I'm glad I saw it in the cinema as there's no way it would be anywhere near as good on my crappy mono 23" Sharp box. So, now that I've been bitten by the big screen bug again I think next on the hit-list has to be the new Star Wars movie - Dimitri is wanting to see it, Kerry's still recovering from her back opo', so we'll get a puff before going in!
My modem eventually arrived, three weeks late, so I'm gonna' try and get it set up to...
